For a duel gun counter, attack during the enemy's opening rather than firing continuously. The project lead's September 28, 2026 clarification says the yellow flash now appears when that opening begins. An accessibility setting can extend the counter window. Fist parrying is discussed separately and should not be confused with this shooting-based duel interaction.
Read the yellow flash using the later guidance
The timing discussion contains reports from different stages of development. Earlier June players described needing to fire before the flash or feeling that the signal arrived too late. The later developer response says the flash was changed to align with the opening. Reading the thread chronologically changes the answer you should take from it.
That later correction is the relevant guidance for the documented revised behavior. An older recording may show the previous relationship between the signal and the opportunity to attack. Reproducing its visual timing without checking the build can therefore be misleading. This guide does not supply a frame count or an input offset that the source never measured.
A gun counter is an attack during an opening
Historical duel discussions describe attacking during the enemy's attack opportunity or immediately after the enemy finishes an attack. They provide context for why controlled timing matters in these encounters. They do not support treating constant fire as an equivalent technique. The source-backed distinction is between recognizing an opening and merely attacking whenever the weapon is ready.
This is also why recovery attacks and counters should be described carefully. Historical player advice discusses both ways of approaching the duel. The later yellow-flash correction concerns the indicated opportunity, rather than a complete sequence for every enemy. A general description of openings cannot establish one universal boss script.
Use the extended-window option
The developer identifies an option that extends the timing window. Earlier instructions in the discussion place it under Gameplay, while the later reply refers to Accessibility. Look for the option described by the developer in the menus available in your build. The source supports the aid's existence without establishing a single unchanged menu path across versions.
The accessibility option is directly relevant if the signal is difficult to act on. It changes the available window rather than supplying a different weapon location or character build. The research does not quantify the extension in milliseconds or frames. A precise numerical claim would require a measurement absent from the collected material.
Keep fist parrying separate
A different October 16 developer reply discusses fist parries for Early Access and connects them to Strength. The author qualifies the remembered threshold, so that number is not presented here as a verified requirement. This is a distinct interaction from shooting during a duel opening. Instructions for the yellow flash should not be relabeled as a complete fist-parry tutorial.
The distinction matters when comparing class advice. The June Low Vibration rework enables this class's melee attacks in Duels and fixes retaliation buildup from blocking. Those are supported patch changes, but neither supplies a verified universal fist-parry input. See the Strength build explanation for the rework itself.
Apply timing advice to the Champion carefully
Ascendant Champion is associated with the historical demo's optional duel. Old discussions describe counters, recovery openings, and an alternative hidden-item solution. They do not establish the current fight's exact HP, rewards, or no-hit sequence. The existence of several approaches does not make their old timing interchangeable.
Use the Champion guide for that encounter's documented context. Use this page for the developer's correction to the flash and the accessibility aid. The combination gives a clearer starting point without pretending that a historical victory video has validated a later build. The evidence for this explanation was collected on October 25, 2026.
