In the documented older demo opening, use the repair item beside the nonworking gun, restore the firearm, and shoot the explosive barrel while keeping clear of the blast. Beyond that obstacle, match walkthrough advice to your build: the original Doom conversion, standalone demo, and planned Early Access campaign are different scopes. Wits is the best-supported recommended demo start. This is an opening and orientation guide, not a verified complete campaign route.
Identify the version before following a route
Divine Frequency began as a Doom total conversion and later became a standalone GZDoom-based project. Historical coverage of the conversion and the October 2023 standalone demo describes different stages of development. A route recorded for one should not be presented as an unchanged map for another. The collected videos were discovery candidates, not fully reviewed step-by-step evidence.
The difference is especially important when a guide claims to show everything. The developer describes Early Access as two of the three planned acts. The demo does not expose the complete spendable progression loop described for that release. Neither a short old run nor a video labeled “full demo” proves a complete campaign walkthrough.
Solve the documented opening repair obstacle
The historical opening discussion identifies a room with an unusable firearm, a nearby repair item, and an explosive barrel. The supported sequence is to find the adjacent repair resource and use it on the weapon. Once the firearm works, shoot the barrel to resolve the obstacle while staying clear of its explosion. An independent 2025 preview describes the same repair-teaching moment.
This solution is deliberately tied to the landmark rather than an invented map coordinate. It applies when the room matches the older demo example. The sources do not establish a verified route through every later transition or prove that the June 2026 opening has precisely the same arrangement. Jokes in the original discussion about other games or repeated punching are not part of the solution.
Choose a starting style with the demo context in mind
Wits is identified as the recommended option by independent coverage and multiple June 2026 players. Strength, also discussed as Low Vibration, is the melee-focused alternative. Physique emphasizes mutations and corpse consumption in the collected class comparison. These styles are not a verified easy, normal, and hard ordering.
Strength advice also needs a date because its mechanics were substantially reworked in June 2026. Basic melee use became simpler, power punches could be charged separately, and the patch changed healing and blocking interactions. An old combination tutorial can therefore conflict with later instructions. Read starting classes or the Strength build guide before using an old route as a build recommendation.
Use the revised navigation and item tutorials
The June 22 demo patch changed lighting and added blockages to guide players through the beginning. It also adjusted geometry in black-and-white areas to reduce disorientation. These are documented navigation changes, rather than new coordinates that the research has mapped. They explain why a later build may lead the player differently from old footage.
The same update improved onboarding for item use and weapon repair. It renamed the repair spray and device to remove the misleading word “Auto.” Carrying those items is not the same as using them. The repair guide explains the verified maintenance lesson and the historical Trench Gun exception.
Recognize the boundary of the leveling loop
A September 28 project-lead reply places the spendable upgrade loop after boarding the train in Early Access and the full game. It identifies Exaltation as the leveling currency. Searching the demo for the same spending opportunity is therefore a different problem from finding the next doorway. The research does not support farming until a hidden Strength menu appears.
The developer also distinguishes weapon modifications, weapon-channeled psi abilities, and dialogue upgrades. Those systems should not all be described as the same leveling action. A complete route would need to identify each interaction in a named build. This opening guide does not supply unverified trainer locations or purchase sequences.
Optional encounters and older demo endpoints
The official product description confirms secrets and optional elite encounters. Historical sources connect Ascendant Champion to an optional duel and mention an alternative bench endpoint for the older demo. Those boundaries do not reveal the full game's ending. They also do not establish a complete checklist of secrets.
For duel timing, the later developer correction says the yellow flash now aligns with the opening. An accessibility setting can extend that window. Consult the Champion page for its historical encounter context. Do not interpret an older demo victory as proof that every planned act has been completed.
