Exaltation is the currency Divine Frequency uses to level up your character. The developer, Abraxaes, says the spendable leveling loop opens after you board the train in Early Access and the full game. That is why demo players can collect rewards from fights yet find nowhere to spend them. Exact level costs and the menu layout are not publicly documented yet, so this page sticks to what the developer has confirmed.
What Exaltation does
In a September 28, 2026 reply on the Steam forums, the project lead named Exaltation as the leveling currency. Spending it is how your character grows, which is the system players ask about when they search for ways to raise Strength or other attributes. For that specific question, see how to increase Strength.
Exaltation is not the same thing as weapon progression. The same reply separates character leveling from weapon modifications, weapon-channeled psi abilities, and upgrades you get through dialogue. If you are trying to improve a gun rather than your character, use the weapon upgrades guide.
When can you spend it?
The developer places the leveling loop after the train in Early Access and the full game. Before that point, there is no confirmed way to spend Exaltation. Grinding enemies in the demo is not a verified way to unlock a hidden level-up menu, so you do not need to farm early areas.
If you are just starting out, pick a class that suits your playstyle first. The best starting class guide compares the three archetypes, and the opening walkthrough gets you through the first obstacles.
Is it related to Path of Exile's Exalted Orb?
No. Searches for "exaltation" often return Path of Exile 2 currency guides about Exalted and Divine Orbs. Those belong to a different game and have nothing to do with Divine Frequency. Advice about orb trading or farming does not apply here.
What is still unknown
Public sources do not yet list how much Exaltation each level costs, where it drops most often, or what the level-up screen looks like in Early Access. Treat any exact numbers you see elsewhere with caution unless they come with current-build screenshots. This page will be updated when tested information is available.
